How to Install the BMW iDrive 6 Retrofit (NBT Evo ID6): DIY Installation Guide
Share
If you're upgrading your BMW F30, F32, F80, or similar F-series chassis to the newer NBT Evo ID6 (iDrive 6) system, the physical installation is a job most DIYers with basic tools and patience can handle at home. We put together a complete step by step guide covering the same procedure our team follows at Codepro when we install these units for customers, including the battery disconnect, dashboard trim removal, Central Information Display (CID), radio and A/C control panel, and the head unit swap itself, with photos for every step.
This guide covers physical installation only. Coding (FA/E-Sys/ISTA) to activate the new unit is a separate step. If your kit does not include coding, Codepro offers a remote coding service to get everything fully activated once the hardware is in place.
