Porsche MIB Update — Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Activation Guide

Bringing your Porsche's infotainment system (MIB) up to date unlocks Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and other head unit features. This guide walks you through the full process step by step — no dealer visit required.

Estimated total time: 15–20 minutes

What You'll Need

  • SD card with the update files (provided by Codepro)
  • A vehicle battery charger (recommended) or the engine running
  • Do not turn off the ignition during the process
  • Keep the doors closed, if possible, throughout the update

Step 1: Prepare Your SD Card

  1. Format the SD card again before starting, even if it's new.
  2. Copy all the provided files into the root of the SD card — not inside any folder.
  3. When you're done, the SD card should look exactly like this:

Important: The files must sit directly on the SD card. Placing them inside a subfolder will cause the update to fail.

Part 1: MIB Update

Open the Update Menu

On your Porsche, press and hold CAR + MEDIA together.

Run the Update

  1. Turn on the vehicle's ignition or start the engine.
  2. Insert the SD card into SD Slot 1.
  3. Open the Update Menu.
  4. Select, in order:
    • Update
    • SD1
    • Standard
    • MIB Launcher
  5. Press Start Update.

While the Update Runs

  • The system will reboot automatically.
  • The update process begins on its own — you don't need to do anything else.
  • Wait until it finishes completely before touching anything.

Do not:

  • Remove the SD card
  • Press random buttons
  • Turn off the vehicle

Finish the Update

  1. When the update completes, press Continue in the bottom right corner.
  2. If prompted to run a version comparison / variant check, press Cancel.
  3. The unit will reboot one final time.
  4. Wait until the reboot is fully complete.

MIB update complete.

Part 2: Enable Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Open the Engineering Menu

Press and hold CAR + TUNER together.

Run a Backup First

  1. Open MIB.
  2. Scroll down and open backup_restore.
  3. Select Backup.
  4. Wait about 5 minutes for it to complete.

While the backup runs:

  • Never press Back during the backup.
  • You may scroll down only to check progress.
  • Wait until you see the "All done" message before continuing.

Return to the Main Menu

  1. Press the Back button (near OPT) twice.
  2. You should now be back at the MIB Main Menu.

Install the Patch

  1. Find and open patch_ifs_root.
  2. Scroll down.
  3. Select Click me for patch / add FEC / CP / AA.

Let It Finish

The process takes about 4 minutes and runs automatically.

Do not:

  • Interrupt the process
  • Remove the SD card yet

The system will reboot automatically as part of this step.

Final Steps

  1. Wait until the reboot is completely finished.
  2. Remove the SD card.
  3. Connect your iPhone or Android phone via USB.
  4. Test Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

All done — your Porsche now has Apple CarPlay & Android Auto enabled.
