BMW MGU Component Protection Removal Service
BMW MGU Component Protection Removal Service
When the BDC (Body Domain Controller) or MGU headunit in a vehicle is replaced, the system enters a mode known as Component Protection (CP). This safeguard restricts functionality to prevent theft, but it must be removed to restore full use of the vehicle.
How the Process Works:
1. Bench Preparation: After the headunit is replaced, it must be removed and sent to us for bench preparation. This is essential to disable Component Protection.
2. Vehicle Reinstallation: Once the headunit is returned, the final steps are completed in the vehicle using a Laptop and ENET cable. The original enabling codes will be restored, and the system will be fully operational.
This procedure ensures the vehicle is future-proof against potential issues at a dealership following BDC or headunit replacements. It is necessary when:
- BDC units become faulty and require replacement.
- The MGU headunit is replaced due to hardware failure.
If using a pre-owned MGU unit, it must first be virginized, which is a service we can provide.
Shipping Information:
- The headunit must be shipped directly to us, and we will complete the necessary steps and return it within 36 hours.
- The buyer is responsible for shipping costs to us, as well as any taxes incurred. Return postage is included in the service price, excluding import duties and taxes.
Please note that this service does not include an MGU headunit; it is a post-in service only.
